We rented a 100 ft powered sewer snake to cut away the tree roots of a nearby tree leading into our clay tile main sewer drain. This can be a costly call to a plumber so we want to show you how to do it yourself. It really is not hard and only cost us $45 to rent for 4 hours, it $60 for a full day locally and you can get it later in the day at the half day rate to use overnight. If you have never performed this job keep the kids out for safety. We have done this a dozen times and teach our kids everything. Use your own judgement and remember you are using an electric powered motor, water in the drain, and don’t use rubber gloves as the get caught and twisted in the cable. Use leather gloves. We were 30 min away from any store late at night and the project was long overdue so the mechanically inclined tend to make due with what is on hand. Thank you for you patience with the
kids who were on hand as part of a home school demonstration and fully versed in safety beforehand.
