  • For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1970 Ford Mustang convertible painted in the gorgeous Calypso Coral that’s nicely complimented by a cloth black soft top and Boss 302 stripes that are painted and cleared over for a very smooth look. The paint has a true show car finish and looks amazing! It’s easy to tell that the painter knew what he was doing and took his time. The black cloth soft top is a great upgrade from the traditional vinyl and adds some depth to the look. The wheels are 17″ polished aluminum and are wrapped in high performance radial rubber. Power comes from a 302 that has ben warmed over and balanced that is producing 360 horsepower. This is accomplished with 351 heads, an aluminum intake and Holley carburetor, aluminum water pump, HEI ignition and more. Dressing up the engine bay is a Chrome single wire alternator and Ford Racing slant edge valve covers. Power is sent through a rebuilt C6 automatic and back to a set of 3.00 rear gears. Slowing down is issue free with a front disc brake conversion. Inside are custom upholstered front and rear seats, Mass back carpets, center console with glove box and cup holders, a dash pad, white faced gauges, Deluxe full door panels, color coded inserts and a remote Bluetooth stereo. The whole build has around 1,000 miles since its completion. Just enough to work out any bugs and few enough to be a fresh build. This car will not disappoint. Please call our St. Louis showroom for more information at 618-271-3000 or stop by for a closer look. To view 100+ HD photos and video, visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com

CAP D’AGDE, FRANCE — An accident occurred at an amusement park in France on August 4, when an elastic band on a “slingshot ride” snapped, causing a cage with two riders inside to slam into one of the ride’s support stanchions. One of the riders, a 24-year-old woman, suffered a broken leg in the accident.

In a video dated August 4 and uploaded by Facebook user Claude Pons, the couple can be seen aboard the slingshot ride, called Le Cinquieme element, or “the Fifth Element,” at Luna Park in Cap d’Agde, in southern France.

Once the elastics are tightened, an anchor releases the cage containing the the two riders, and they are shot high into the air. But as the cage falls back down, one of the two elastic bands fails, causing the cage to crash into the stanchion where the remaining elastic was attached, breaking the female rider’s leg.

After remaining suspended in the air for an hour, the riders were rescued. The male rider was not seriously injured. Luna Park officials said the accident was the result of a manufacturing defect in the elastic band.

Investigators are independently looking into the cause of the accident.
