(I HATE efflorescence and this is how to get rid of it)
Wanna learn how to clean efflorescence off stone?
Efflorescence is just salt deposits. It looks white and can really drag down the appearance of retaining walls or bricks. Fortunately there are multiple ways to remove it.
Hi Friend, this is Jeff from Home Repair Tutor and this quick video will show you how I cleaned stubborn efflorescence off my stone wall. I used a diluted solution of water and muriatic acid. You can buy a huge bottle of muriatic acid at the local hardware store for $7.29.
You’ll want to dilute the muriatic acid so that it doesn’t harm your stone. And remember to add acid to water. I added about 1 gallon of water to a plastic bucket then dumped in 12 ounces of the acid. Stir it with a plastic or wooden stirrer.
Then you can apply the solution using a plastic brush. Make sure to wear goggles, chemical resistant gloves, a long sleeve shirt, pants, and boots. Safety first.
